Woodville High School Goes Lawn Bowling
With a view to diversifying their sports offerings we were approached by Woodville High School asking if we were interested in providing introductory coaching for some of their students. This enquiry was well received by our Board as it corresponds with one of our key strategic objectives of engaging with the local community, taking the game of lawn bowls to a younger generation, teaching them the basics, and encouraging their longer term interest. Under the coordination and direction of Club President Terry Hughes, Board Member Ken James, and club member Jim Dimasi, we subsequently hosted 120 of their students over a two-week period in October. Terry, Ken and Jim report that the students were very receptive and quick to learn the finer points of the game with a few of them showing excellent skills suggesting they could take up the game seriously and achieve success.
